The Estate

Forty thousand square metres of hillside, shared by everyone who stays.

Cantalobos

A family hill above the sea

Palacio de Cantalobos is a privately owned estate on a secluded sea-view plateau above Almuñécar, Costa Tropical in Andalucía, between the Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean. Relaxed luxury among lush botanical gardens, perfect for family gatherings, celebrations and events. The Lindau Modell family bought the hill in 2012 and have run it since: four villas and The Suites, set across gravelled paths, terraces and orchards.

Cantalobos means the singing wolves. The hill is meant to be walked at a gentle pace, not seen all at once. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, avocados, mangoes and olives grow this far north, and outdoor living isn't an amenity here — it's the default.

Everything on this page belongs to the hill, not to any one home, and is there for everyone who stays.

Out on the hill

Gravelled paths link terraces, orchards and quiet corners. These places belong to the hill, and are open to every guest.

Rackets and balls resting by the net of the Cantalobos padel court.

Padel

The padel court

The estate's own court lies between the villas, with the mountains all around. It is open to every guest from 8 am to 9 pm, no booking needed: rackets and balls are in the cabinet beside the court, or in your villa. A game before breakfast, a rematch before dinner.

Ripe mangoes hanging from a tree, the green valley and the mountains beyond.

Orchards

The Fruit Orchards

A microclimate between the Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean lets mangoes, avocados and olives grow on the hill, fruit that rarely thrives this far north. Gravelled paths wind through the orchards, and guests are welcome to pick fruit in season, for breakfast on the terrace or a picnic under the trees.

  • Garden Gym & yogaAn open-air gym where fitness meets nature, with yoga alongside.
  • Pool ClubDrinks by the water, and a water exercise class as the sun goes down.
  • Paths & terracesGravelled paths and quiet terraces, made for walking at a gentle pace while the light is still low.
